When Gym Class VR hired Chronicle Cinema to create their game’s first trailer for the META app store, travel restrictions meant the team had to shoot in Kentucky, but the story couldn’t stay there. London, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, and Chicago were all created in Louisville, with locations, casting, art direction, and wardrobe turning one city into four.
The other half of the shoot happened inside the game itself. Working with the Meta and Gym Class teams, Chronicle helped develop a proprietary tool to go into the VR world and “film” shots that matched the actors’ movements on set, so the live-action and in-game halves of the trailer cut together seamlessly.
